A gentle, practical move into a care home, handled by one coordinator
Short answerCare home removals for an elderly person cover sorting what comes with them, packing, the removal itself and setting up their new room. Chayce, based in Northampton, helps with the practical side of this move across the UK, with one dedicated coordinator, DBS-checked staff and packages from £995. We do not give care or medical advice.

Moving into a care home is an emotional step for the person and for their family. The practical work is often what families find hardest to fit in around visits, work and everything else. We take that on, at a gentle pace and with the family involved as much as they wish.
A care home room is much smaller than a family home. We help decide what fits and matters most, so the room feels familiar from the first day.
Every box is labelled by destination, with medication, important papers and everyday essentials kept easy to reach.
Insured against loss or damage in transit, with the cover set out in your service agreement before the move begins.
Photographs, bedding, a favourite chair and familiar objects put in place, so the room is ready when your relative arrives. The previous home can then be sorted later, without time pressure.
What is included depends on the package you choose. We help with the practical move only. The decision to move, the choice of home and any care or funding questions are for the person, their family and their care and medical professionals.
A Discovery Consultation, from £150, gives you a plan, timeline and budget in an hour, in person or by phone.
We agree with you what goes into the room and what stays for later, item by item and with your agreement.
Careful packing, then an insured removal on a day that suits your relative and the home.
The new room set up with familiar things. Sorting the old home can wait until the family is ready.
Tell us if the move is urgent. We work to shorter timescales where we can, though the more notice we have, the gentler it can be.
Many care homes provide a bed and some furniture, and have rules about fire safety. Check what the home provides and what you may bring before you pack anything large.
Many homes require electrical items such as lamps, radios, TVs and electric blankets to pass a PAT (portable appliance) safety test before they can be plugged in. Ask whether the home tests them or expects you to arrange it, and consider battery-powered radios or clocks to use in the meantime.
Photographs, a favourite blanket or cushion, a clock, books, a small piece of furniture and familiar ornaments do the most to make a room feel like theirs.
Clothes and personal items are usually best labelled with the person’s name. Ask the home whether it has its own labelling arrangements.
The family home does not need emptying before the move. If a sale or a bereavement follows, our guide to moving after probate and clearing a loved one’s home explains the next steps.
We never rush sentimental items, and the family can be as involved as they like.

No. Choosing a home, care needs and funding are for the person, their family and their care and medical professionals. We help only with the practical move.
Start with personal items such as photographs, a favourite chair or blanket, books and a clock. Many homes provide a bed and some furniture, so ask the home what it provides and what you may bring before you pack large items.
We help sort, pack and move belongings, and can help you decide what to keep, pass on or let go, always with your agreement. We are not a house clearance firm, so we do not empty a property for disposal.
Once the decision has been made with the right professionals, agree a moving date with the home, sort what comes with them, label clothes and belongings, pack, and set up the room so it feels familiar. A removals coordinator can handle the practical work. See our moving into a care home checklist.
