Practical, patient help with a loved one’s home, when you need it most
Short answerAfter a death, Chayce can help with the practical side: sorting belongings with the family, packing and moving what is being kept, and moving a surviving partner or relative into a new home. We are not a probate service, legal advisers or a house clearance firm, so we do not give legal advice or empty a property for disposal. Packages start at £995.

Dealing with a home after a death is hard enough without a deadline. Probate and legal steps are for the executor and their solicitor. The practical work of sorting, packing and moving is where we can take the weight off the family.
Room by room, with the executor and family deciding what is kept, sold, donated or passed on. Nothing goes without agreement.
Photographs, letters, jewellery and papers are set aside to decide on properly, not swept up in a bulk clear-out.
What is being kept is packed, labelled and moved by DBS-checked staff, insured against loss or damage in transit.
If a husband, wife or partner needs to downsize or move closer to family, we can run that move with a dedicated coordinator.
What is included depends on the package. Any legal, probate or tax question should go to the estate’s solicitor or to GOV.UK.
Handle probate, the legal duties around the estate and the decisions about who gets what. Chayce does not give legal, tax or probate advice.
Empties a property for disposal or sale. Chayce does not do this: we sort, pack and move what the family chooses to keep.
Helps the family sort and decide, packs and moves belongings, and moves a surviving partner or relative. Nothing goes without the family’s agreement.
Check with the executor or solicitor before items are given away, sold or removed from the property, so nothing is disposed of too early. Our guide to moving after probate and clearing a loved one’s home sets this out.
We never rush sentimental items, and the family decides what happens to each one.
A one-hour plan and timeline, in person or by phone.

See Bronze Essentials →Declutter help, removal, deep clean and unpacking with a coordinator.
See Silver Comfort →We help the family sort, pack and move belongings, and move a surviving partner or relative. We are not a probate service or a house clearance firm, so we do not give legal advice or empty a property for disposal.
Prices vary with the size of the property and how much it holds, and clearance firms usually quote by volume, so get at least two or three written quotes. Chayce does not clear properties for disposal, so we do not quote for it, but our sorting, packing and moving help starts at £995.
That is a question for the executor and the estate’s solicitor. Belongings can form part of the estate, so check before anything is given away, sold or thrown out. See GOV.UK’s guidance on wills, probate and inheritance.
Usually the executor named in the will, or an administrator if there is no will. Your solicitor or GOV.UK can confirm who has the authority in your case.
Packing and an insured removal start at £995 with Bronze Essentials. Declutter support starts with Silver Comfort at £1,850. A Discovery Consultation costs £150. The final cost depends on the size of the home and the help you need.
