Why this matters when you are moving an older person

A later-life move means people coming into a home that has often been lived in for decades, and handling belongings that matter deeply. It is reasonable to ask who is coming, how they have been checked and what happens if something goes wrong. This page sets out our answers plainly.

DBS-checked staff

The people who work in clients’ homes for Chayce are DBS-checked to Enhanced level, including the barred list check. A DBS check is a criminal record check carried out through the Disclosure and Barring Service, which covers England and Wales. That covers the team doing packing, removals and downsizing support for older people. We work with our own vetted team rather than outsourcing your move to unknown subcontractors.

Insurance

Every removal is fully insured against loss or damage in transit. Chayce holds goods in transit insurance and public liability insurance. The details are set out in the service agreement before the move begins, so you can read them before you commit. See our terms of service.

Supporting older and vulnerable clients

Many of the people we help are older, and some are being helped by a son, daughter or other family member. If someone else holds a Lasting Power of Attorney or is helping to make decisions, please tell us at the start so that decisions are made by the right person. Our guide to Lasting Power of Attorney and moving a parent explains the basics.

If something goes wrong

If you are unhappy with any part of your move, tell us as soon as you can by phone on 07708 925432 or by email at info@chayceproperties.com. We will look into what happened and tell you what we will do about it.

Your information

We only use your personal information to plan and carry out your move. See our privacy policy for exactly what we collect, why, and your rights.
