Short answer: a premium or concierge move for an older person in the UK covers far more than packing and a van. It adds coordination of the sale and purchase, viewings, staging, storage, unpacking and, at the top end, help settling into a new area. It suits larger, more complex moves. For a simple move, a standard package is usually enough.
What makes a move premium
A standard move packs and transports belongings. A premium move takes on the surrounding work as well, so one coordinator is managing the whole project. In practice that can mean:
- Property viewings arranged and attended, including transport to them.
- Liaison with your estate agent and solicitor, so dates stay in step.
- Staging a home for sale, with photography.
- Storage when the sale and purchase dates do not line up.
- Careful unpacking and styling at the new home.
- Help settling into a new area and getting to know it.
What this looks like at Chayce
Chayce offers two premium packages that build on Silver Comfort, which already includes sorting and declutter help, packing, an insured removal, a deep clean and unpacking.
- Gold Prestige, from £3,250. Adds chauffeur-driven property viewings, estate agent liaison, solicitor coordination, full home staging with photography, storage solutions for up to six weeks and white-glove unpacking and styling. See Gold Prestige.
- Platinum Bespoke, from £6,500. Adds a fully bespoke, unlimited scope, a personal lifestyle concierge, new area orientation and introductions, an interior designer consultation, and ongoing post-move concierge support for three months. See Platinum Bespoke.
Who it suits
- A larger home with a lot of belongings, furniture or valuable items.
- A sale and purchase running at the same time, with dates to coordinate.
- A move to a new area where the person knows few people.
- Family who live far away and cannot manage the move in person.
- A person who wants the whole move to be as calm and hands-off as possible.
Who does not need it
If the move is simple, for example one person moving locally into a retirement flat, Bronze Essentials or Silver Comfort is often enough. Paying for viewings and staging that you do not need is not good value. Our removals cost guide explains what affects the price.
How to judge whether it is worth it
- List what you would otherwise arrange yourself: viewings, solicitor liaison, staging, storage, unpacking.
- Ask what is included in writing, and what costs extra.
- Check that staff are DBS-checked and the removal is insured.
- Ask who your single point of contact is and how you can reach them.
- Compare the total with the cost of arranging each piece separately.
