Short answer: before booking any removals company in the UK, ask about insurance, what the quote includes, whether packing is covered, who will be on the day and what happens if your dates change. Get every answer in writing.
About the price
- What exactly is included, and what is not?
- Is the quote fixed, or can it change on the day? What could change it?
- Are packing materials and packing labour included?
- Are there extra charges for stairs, parking or waiting time?
About insurance and safety
- What is covered against loss or damage in transit, and up to what value?
- Is the cover in the written agreement? Every Chayce removal is fully insured, with the details set out before the move begins.
- How are fragile and valuable items handled?
About the day itself
- Who will be at the property, and who is my contact if something changes?
- How long will the move take, and what happens if there is a delay?
- Will furniture be protected and reassembled at the other end?
About flexibility
Sale and purchase dates often move. Ask how the company handles date changes and what notice it needs.
About the support around the move
A standard removals firm covers only the transport. If you also want help with sorting, packing, estate agent and solicitor liaison and settling in, see what a full-service moving company does and how to choose a relocation partner. We explain our own process at how it works, and our home moving service page lists what is included at each level.
For older people in particular, see how to choose a removals company for an elderly person.
